When you are newly diagnosed with Diabetes II, you are alarmed at your blood sugar number from the results of your lab blood test.
Your new goal in life is to get your blood sugar level to return to a normal level.
However, it does not happen magically overnight. There are no quick fixes. Instead, there are many factors that affect blood sugar levels -- some you may not have control over.
However, here are some things a person can do to naturally lower their blood sugar levels:
1) Increase fiber intake
2) Exercise regularly (which also helps with stress management)
3) Get enough adequate, quality sleep
4) Consume foods that have a low glycemic index
5) Avoid foods with a high glycemic index
6) Consume smaller portions of food
7) Drink adequate amounts of water
8) Eat foods that contain low carbs
9) Avoid high carb foods
10) Practice methods of stress management such as meditation, deep breathing, etc.
11) Eat foods that contain high amounts of Chromium and Magnesium such as egg yolks, green beans, brocoli, nuts, coffee, meats, etc.
12) Try supplementing your diet with cinnamon extract. 1/2 - 2 teaspoons daily is recommended but no more than that.
13) Lose weight
14) Try supplementing your diet with
cider vinegar by adding it to salads or by drinking an 8 ounce glass of
water daily with 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar in it.
15) Spread out consuming carbs throughout the day
Most importantly, check with your doctor to make sure they agree with any modifications you make to your diet, etc.
